One Lazy Sunday After Church

Just pictures last Nov. 25, 2007.
Danie has started eating solid foods this morning, more pics to follow.
Also, update on yet another vaccine shot, SHE STILL DID NOT CRY!!! :-)

And this is what a plastic Christmas tree looks like
(for the benefit of those on the other side of the world who use REAL trees---
Dennise: Oh, and this afternoon (Nov. 25), we put up our Christmas tree.
Karsten: Really? SO early?
Dennise: What do you mean early?! This is quite late for Philippine Christmas.
Karsten: Well, here we usually set it up on the 22nd of December.
Dennise: WHAT?! So late?
Karsten: Well, if we get one earlier, it would look ugly after 2 weeks or so. We use real trees you know...
Dennise: (finally understanding) oohhhhh... I see... Yeah, that makes sense...)

Random Pictures at 5 months

Hi everyone, sorry for the late updates, I was in Cebu going crazy over the 'what-needs-to-be-done-before-I-resign' phase and now that Cebu is over and done with, I'm excited to share with you firsthand the feats of Danielle.

First off, she can now roll on her tummy! She rolls on her tummy from the left side and she can do it expertly already. Currently she is trying to roll back on her back from the right side. She can do this (roll back on her back from being on her tummy)as well but not as quick as rolling on her tummy. Wait, does that make sense? When she can't do it, she screams a lot and then quiets down when she finds her thumb which brings me to the next feat: the art of thumbsucking! Yes, she can do this already with matching saliva everywhere and the occasional gag reflex when she chokes herself with her thumb. Her smiles and bursts of laughter come easily already and she likes being kissed on the nape. She also coos and "talks" when being spoken to! Her cooing are not "one-word" baby coos rather continuous cooing as if actually carrying on a conversation, it's just the cutest! And she plays with her saliva! Play as in make bubbles with it! It's a bit disgusting but still cute :-p

The previous entry was about her not crying during her vaccine shot and I said I would update on the October 20 visit again so here goes: NO, SHE STILL DID NOT CRY!

Here are random pics of her on her 5th month:

She Didn't Cry

"Dennise, talk to her so that she won't fidget around so much and when I insert the needle she'll calm down and not thrash around," said Doctor Jocelyn Go.

And she proceeded to insert the needle which I didn't even bother looking at since I was anticipating the very high pitched scream from Danielle.

BUT. SHE. DIDN'T. CRY.

Not a tear in sight when the doctor inserted the needle into her left leg for her 5-in-one vaccine shot which is going to make her immune to...um, ok, I cannot remember what the shot was for. All I remember is that it was just expensive! But I'll post back here once I check the baby book again.

I think it was because she was too amused at the tiger pillow on her side. When the needle pierced her leg, she just turned to look at me and that was it. I hope it wasn't a fluke and come October 20, she still wont cry for the Polio Vaccine she is scheduled to have.

At four months, Danie now weighs 6.5 kilos even though for the past 2 weeks she hasn't been drinking her milk regularly unlike before when she'd demand for her bottle every 2 hours. What we do is to make sure to prepare twice the amount of milk she normally consumes and the moment she makes her "I'm-hungry-feed-me" moves, we give her the bottle and she finishes it off without asking for milk for another 3 to 4 hours.

Tidbits:

She's already "baby-talking" in a very soft, very girly voice.
Her smiles and laughter don't come cheap, you have to work for it: contort your face in the most funny way, use a high pitched voice when talking to her, do funny stuff, and then she'll reward you with her rare but so very pretty smile! And if you're lucky, with a laugh!
I found her left dimple!
She can fall asleep without anyone having to carry, rock and lull her to sleep.
She is still attempting to thumb suck contrary to what I thought was already the mastery of the art of it.
She plays with her saliva, makes bubbles with it, quite cute!
She pulls my hair and touches my face with her saliva filled hands when I lean down to kiss her.
Aside from the fact that she is more beautiful than ever, everything stays the same: she loves her baths, music, and someone caressing her legs (right leg in particular).
